Mariano Rivera has had a storied career as a New York Yankee, and the 13 time all-star has left the mound for the last time at Yankee Stadium. The pitcher played in his final home game in front of a sold out crowd at Yankee Stadium. Mariano made an emotional exit as he was pulled off the field in the ninth inning by his teammates Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter. Mariano told reporters “I was bombarded with emotions and a feeling that I couldn’t describe. Everything hit me at that time, I know that was the last time period. I never felt like that before.” The Panamanian pitcher has been with the team since 1990. And although he won’t play any more games in Yankee Stadium, he will certainly not be forgotten. According to the MLB’s online shop, fans have purchased more Rivera jerseys than any other MLB player. Congratulations on your retirement Mo!
